Jay Pee Roadways achieved a major milestone in renewable-energy logistics by becoming the first wind turbine transporter in India to move a 90-metre-class wind turbine blade. The 89.5-metre blade was transported from Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, to Nilanga, Maharashtra, travelling across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The project required specialized trailer engineering, detailed route surveys, route development, statutory permissions and careful safety management. Special arrangements included maintaining approximately 500 mm clearance between the trailer boom and blade, using protective inflatable cushions and designing wooden saddles to safely support the blade while controlling the overall transportation height.
Route-development activities included widening critical turning areas, creating temporary bypasses, removing and reinstating road infrastructure, coordinating HT-line lifting and obtaining permissions from government and local authorities.
This project demonstrated Jay Pee Roadways’ ability to combine transportation engineering, route intelligence, safety management and on-ground execution for exceptionally large wind-energy components.
